Medarametla Prasanthi

I, Prasanthi Medarametla, was born in Andhra Pradesh, India. I completed my bachelor’s degree in
pharmaceutical sciences, which enlightened me about the importance of interdisciplinary science.
This encouraged me to choose a multidisciplinary field of Pharmacoinformatics as my subject during
masters at NIPER (National Institute for Pharmaceutical Education and Research, India).
I am interested in computational chemistry and drug design. As a part of my M.S. programme, I have
worked as an intern at Jubilant Biosys Ltd. (Bangalore) for six months to develop the predictive
models for genotoxicity using machine learning approaches like recursive partitioning and bayes
method. Thereafter I have started working at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICTHyderabad,
India) as a TATA-CSIR OSDD Fellow. Here, I was working towards identification of
new inhibitors for the drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). I was also involved in the
development of a software tool i.e. MPDS (Molecular Property Diagnostic Suite), which is designed
to predict biological and chemical value of a given molecule towards Tuberculosis.
These experiences have enhanced my interest to pursue doctoral studies in drug design. INTEGRATE
gave me the opportunity to fulfill this desire, where I am working as a modeler to design new antibacterials
under the supervision of Prof. Antti Poso at University of Eastern Finland (UEF), Kuopio.
